Comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessment

  • A Comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessment is a detailed evaluation that provides a clear, insightful picture of a student’s cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning. These assessments help identify individual learning profiles, guide targeted support, and uncover each student’s unique strengths and needs. Every assessment at Bright Insights is thoughtfully tailored to help uncover not just what’s challenging a student—but also what lights them up.

  • The results of a comprehensive evaluation can offer valuable insights into how your child learns, thinks, and experiences the world. It can help us better understand their unique learning profile and identify areas where they may benefit from extra support. This may include:

    • Learning differences such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, or Dyscalculia

    • ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

    • Emotional or Behavioral needs

    • Or other factors that may be influencing your child’s success at school and in daily life

Cognitive/ IQ Testing

  • Cognitive Testing provides a deeper look into how a student learns, thinks, and solves problems. These insights are valuable not just for identifying learning challenges, but also for recognizing giftedness—or even a combination of both.

    Cognitive testing can uncover why school feels harder than it should—whether it’s attention, memory, processing speed, or differences in language and problem-solving. It can also identify patterns linked to learning differences like Dyslexia or ADHD, so we can recommend supports that truly fit a student’s needs.

    💡 For Gifted or Twice-Exceptional (2e) Students
    Cognitive testing also highlights advanced strengths like reasoning, problem-solving, or creative thinking. For gifted students—especially those who also face learning challenges (2e)—this helps ensure they’re both supported and challenged in the right ways.

  • Cognitive testing can help pinpoint specific areas that may be making school harder than it needs to be. For example, it can identify:

Social-Emotional Evaluation (ERMHS)

  • A Social-Emotional Evaluation helps uncover what’s really behind a student’s challenges—whether it’s mental health concerns, environmental factors, or unmet needs. It may be done privately or through the school to see if Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) are appropriate.

  • A social-emotional evaluation may be conducted privately to explore individual concerns in more depth, or through the school as part of determining whether Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) are appropriate.

  • Estimated Cost: $1,500

    • Guides whether ERMHS or other supports are the right fit

Overflow Assessments & School Contracts

  • When schools are stretched thin, Bright Insights provides flexible support through contracted Psychoeducational Assessments and Observations. We help cover staffing gaps, manage referral spikes, and bring specialized expertise—while ensuring evaluations are completed on time and in line with state guidelines.

    • Clear, strengths-based reports

  • Estimated Cost: Pricing is determined in collaboration with the district based on the scope of services. All services are delivered through an Independent Contractor arrangement with the district.

    • Reliable coverage during staffing shortages or busy referral periods

    • Comprehensive psychoeducational assessments (initial or triennial)

    • Observations, consultations, and IEP meeting participation

    • Clear, strengths-based reports that are practical and actionable

    • A collaborative approach that helps school teams feel supported and empowered

Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)

  • Sometimes families and schools need a second opinion after a district evaluation. Bright Insights provides Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) that are thoughtful, comprehensive, and strengths-based—offering clarity and fresh perspective while honoring each child’s unique learning profile.

  • IEEs through Bright Insights include a thorough review of records, direct assessment, classroom observation, and a clear, accessible report that supports next steps—whether for IEP planning, service decisions, or simply deeper understanding.

  • Estimated Cost: $5,000. A written contract outlining all costs will be provided to the district and agreed upon prior to the assessment beginning. Travel and any additional expenses will be negotiated and finalized in advance (based upon location).

    • A collaborative, student-centered process with families, schools, and service providers

    • Thorough record review, direct assessment, and classroom observation

    • Clear, accessible reports that support IEP planning and service decisions

    • Fresh insights that highlight both strengths and needs

  • Estimated Cost: $150 per hour. A review of school records is required to provide the most effective support for your student and family. The amount of time needed will vary depending on the number and complexity of records to be reviewed.

    • Clear explanations of IEPs, 504 plans, and school paperwork

    • Support in preparing for SST, 504, or IEP meetings

    • Guidance that helps you feel confident about your child’s needs

    • Option for us to attend meetings alongside you for advocacy and support

    • Flexible hourly consultation tailored to your family’s situation
